Can you walk me through one of your favorite UX projects?
One of my favorite projects was “Akina,” a social network designed for emotionally authentic connections. I led the UX strategy, including user research with Gen Z and millennial women, emotion-based interaction models, and privacy UX. We validated the concept through moderated usability testing and saw 40% higher engagement in reflection-based posting. The challenge was designing for emotional nuance without overwhelming users, and I’m proud of how the guided prompts and UI softened that experience.
How do you approach balancing user needs with business goals?
I start by framing both as complementary. I map user journeys and pain points directly to business KPIs — for example, reducing friction in checkout improves both user satisfaction and conversion rates. In the Unsun Cosmetics project, I aligned user needs around tone-match clarity with a business goal of reducing product returns, which we achieved through an AI shade finder tool.
Tell me about a time your design was challenged — how did you respond?
In the MGO streaming project, the engineering team raised concerns about the scene-based browsing feature being too resource-intensive. I collaborated with them to simplify the interaction logic while keeping the core idea intact — we moved to a dynamic tagging system for key scenes. The compromise preserved innovation without sacrificing performance.
What’s your process for incorporating user feedback into your designs?
I collect qualitative and quantitative feedback through usability tests, surveys, and analytics. I categorize feedback by themes, frequency, and impact. Then I prioritize changes using frameworks like MoSCoW or impact-effort matrices. I also maintain a changelog to transparently show how feedback shapes design evolution.
How do you stay current with design trends and evolving user behavior?
I regularly review case studies from top design teams (like Airbnb, Shopify), read publications like Smashing Magazine and UX Collective, and participate in UX communities and conferences. I also run mini user behavior studies when I can — even informal ones — to spot shifts in how people interact with interfaces.
